Socialist International celebrates George Papandreou’s victory

The Socialist International celebrates the victory of its President George Papandreou, Leader of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement, PASOK, in elections held in Greece on Sunday, 4 October. The SI member PASOK obtained 43.92% of the vote and a total of 160 seats in the 300 member Greek Parliament – an absolute majority. George Papandreou was sworn in as Prime Minister of Greece on Tuesday 6 October 2009.
