Call for the non-interference by diplomatic representatives in electoral process

Changes in Latin America and the Caribbean at the heart of the agenda of the SI meeting in Montevideo, 3-4 April 2006

Original: Spanish

The Socialist International Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean, meeting in Montevideo, Uruguay, on 3-4 April 2006, calls on the diplomatic representatives of different nations in the hemisphere to maintain the norms of non-participation and neutrality during the electoral processes currently underway in the region.

In relation to this matter, we remain concerned in particular about the repeated interventions of the United States Ambassadors in the electoral processes in Central America, as is the case in the Republic of Nicaragua.
