Socialist International Statement on the Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza and West Bank
21 July 2025
The Israeli extreme right coalition is continuing every day the policy of « Conquer - Expel - Settle ». Therefore, they let the humanitarian situation in Gaza become untenable, aiming for a population facing hunger and extreme living conditions to be pushed to a voluntary exodus. At the same time, it lets settlers increase violence in the West Bank and bombs a historic church in Gaza, leaving the Christian community feeling under threat.
The continuation of this state of affairs is untenable and not acceptable. It is disastrous for both Palestinian and Israelis. We call for immediate action to address the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. Hunger cannot be used as an instrument of war. We also call for stopping all attempts to create a « fait accompli » in the West Bank by changing the situation on the ground. As Socialist International, we will never stop raising our voice for peace and will closely monitor the situation in cooperation with our member parties in Palestine and Israel, Fatah and the Democrats.
