26 July 2024
July 26, 2023 - July 26, 2024
One year ago, President Bazoum Mohamed fell victim to a military coup.
On this anniversary, the Socialist International expresses concern for his safety and that of his family, especially after his parliamentary immunity was lifted in June 2024.
The Socialist International continues to closely monitor the political situation in Niger and calls once again for the release and respect of the personal integrity of President Bazoum Mohamed and his family. This is an important step toward creating a conducive environment for building lasting peace and a rule of law for all Nigeriens.
