Statement on Türkiye

The Socialist International is profoundly concerned by the Court decision to annul the CHP Istanbul Congress, a decision that could pave the way for a similar ruling affecting the party Congress that elected Özgür Özel. And this is happening following the imprisonment of sixteen opposition mayors. This path is certainly not in the interest of the country and its citizens.

We stand with CHP and Özgür Özel, SI Vice President, in support of their struggle for justice and rule of law.
