Statement on Lithuania’s Social Democratic Party election results

The Socialist International congratulates Lithuania’s Social Democratic Party on their impressive victory in the parliamentary elections. This success reflects the Lithuanian people’s desire for meaningful change amidst challenging times. By securing 52 seats , the Social Democrats have demonstrated the strength of their progressive agenda and the public’s trust in their commitment to address pressing social issues and economic inequality.

We commend the Social Democrats, under the leadership of Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, for their resilience and dedication to advocating for social justice, equality, and the well-being of all Lithuanians. We are confident that they will manage to address the challenge of creating an inclusive and secure Lithuania for the benefit of its citizens and the broader region.
