Statement on the Arrest of Temirlan Sultanbekov in Kyrgyzstan

The Socialist International expresses its full solidarity with Temirlan Sultanbekov, who has once again been arrested on allegations of calling for mass unrest and advocating an unlawful change of government. Assessments by numerous international institutions indicate that the ongoing persecution of the Socialist International Vice President and the members of his party is politically motivated. We therefore call for his immediate release and urge the authorities to uphold democratic rights and due process.
