Meeting of the Socialist International Mediterranean Committee, Palma de Mallorca

Meeting in Palma de Mallorca on 1-2 December, the Socialist International Mediterranean Committee, approved a working paper outlining the perspectives and priorities to achieve a Euro-Mediterranean partnership with joint responsibility of all the countries in the north and south of the Mediterranean, in the political, economic and financial, and social and cultural spheres. Hosted by the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, PSOE, whose delegation was led by Secretary General José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, delegates from the region discussed the priorities for the new century in the Euro-Mediterranean partnership; cooperating for peace and democracy in the Mediterranean; and the global economy and migration in the Mediterranean.

The Committee also heard brief reports on national situations of countries in the region.
