The Socialist International condemns the closing of parliament and the attempted coup in Venezuela and agrees to attentively follow the political developments in Venezuela, and urges the Venezuelan government to respect the principle of separation of powers inherent to democracy and the full respect of human rights and political pluralism. It fully supports the civic and pacific struggle maintained by our member party Democratic Action, AD, by other democratic political forces, trade unions and other non-governmental organisations.
