The Socialist International firmly expresses its concern over the institutional and democratic crisis affecting various countries around the world, including in Latin America, and strongly condemns any weakening of institutions that enables the entrenchment of autocracy.

It issues its strongest condemnation of authoritarian governments across the globe that undermine rights, freedoms, democracy, and the rule of law.

It calls on the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean to firmly combat any form of collusion and/or complicity between political figures or public officials and organized crime, particularly drug trafficking, and to denounce such acts as a betrayal of the nation.

It demands the visibility of all acts of femicide and enforced disappearance, and calls for decisive efforts to prevent and harshly punish these intolerable human rights violations.

The parties of the Socialist International will continue to fight to strengthen institutions in support of a reinforced social and democratic rule of law. We will denounce and resist all forms of repression and political persecution, particularly against those fighting to restore a democratic and social rule of law, as well as against those forced into displacement or exile.

From the Socialist International, in a spirit of solidarity, we constitute a common front against authoritarian populism—whether from the right or the left—which corrupts the democratic order, disrupts the balance of powers, violates human rights, attacks freedom of expression, renders minorities invisible, and dismantles party systems, thereby endangering democratic stability.

We are closely monitoring the current state of democracy in the region, particularly the threats arising from political polarization and authoritarianism. We emphasize the importance of strengthening democratic institutions, ensuring judicial independence, and advancing economic policies aimed at reducing social inequalities.

We condemn the politicization of judicial systems in various countries and stress the importance of judicial independence to maintain public trust and democratic integrity.
